Drill the pin
Train your eye for pinned pieces.
Pins are everywhere once you look for them: an enemy piece on the same line as its king or queen is a target. Spotting them quickly — and not getting your own pieces pinned — is pure pattern recognition.
Get some reps on pin puzzles before moving on; the ones you miss will come back until they click.
- Look for enemy pieces lined up in front of their king or queen.
- Pile a second attacker on a pinned piece to win it.
- Watch that your OWN pieces don't get pinned.
